Hate Crime Stats released for the North East

Almost one person a day is the victim of hatecrime in Cleveland, whilst in Northumberland, figures show a slight drop in racist incidents.

Home office Crime stats reveal that almost one person a day is the victim of hate crime, in the Cleveland Police force area.
There has been a reduction in race-related crime which the most common form of hate but an increase in disability hate crimes.

Bishop Auckland man avoids jail after violent assault on wife and attack on Asian man.

A Bishop Auckland man avoids jail after he launches violent assault on wife followed by attack on Asian man in street.

Christopher Reynolds, of Wensleydale Square, Bishop Auckland drank 20 pints of bitter on July 2 and whilst returning home, Reynolds and a friend attacked an Asian man in the street, repeatedly punching and headbutting him in the nose, while shouting racist insults.

After returning home punched his partner in the jaw. He pleaded guilty to assault by beating and racially aggravated assault at Newron Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court, and was given a 26- week prison sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to pay court costs of £85 and £150 in compensation.

No charges brought against North East Infidel drug dealer arrested on race hate charges

Race Hate charges against 2 North East men have been dropped this week.Heroin dealer and North East Infidel member Paul Duffy, 46, a former regional organiser of the English Defence League (EDL) and Darren Yateley, 43 were arrested on suspicion of public order offences during a counter terrorism raid on April 19th.

North East Hate Crime figures drop but far right still inflicting fear on communities

The number of recorded hate crimes and racist incidents reported to police in the North East has fallen by five per cent in the last year.

However, the figures come as Tahir Khan, chairman of multicultural organisation Unity, calls on the Government to put a stop to the demonstrations he believes are causing fear in the community.

South Shields EDL member charged with bomb threats

A MAN is due to appear in court after messages appeared on Facebook threatening an “Oslo-style� bomb attack targeting Muslims in South Tyneside.

Kenneth Graham Holden of 30, of Winskill Road, Simonside, South Shields, has been charged with two counts of sending offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing messages or matter, and is due at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on September 25.

As reported in the South Shields Gazette, he’s shown wearing his EDL sweatshirt, further evidence of the violent intentions of the EDL.
